The most fundamental element for successful management of your network infrastructure is accurate and up to date network documentation. Knowing what you have and how it is allocated saves you substantial amounts of time and money. DataStarUSA provides our customers with a full range of products and services to allow them to quickly and confidently manage their cable plant and switch ports to maximize efficiency and utilization.
The most fundamental aspect of our documentation program is an AutoCAD deliverable made up of floor plans, Telecommunications Rooms/Data Center overhead and vertical drawings. Floor plans include workstation types and identification numbers, primary and secondary horizontal cable pathways, backbone copper and fiber pathways and descriptions, and TR locations. TR/Data Center overhead views show ladder rack, rack and cabinet layout as well as wall field and auxiliary communications, HVAC, and power equipment locations. These deliverables are wall mounted in each TR or Data Center as applicable and provided to the customer in their preferred electronic format. DataStarUSA also has the capability to provide 3D versions of floor plans and TR/Data Center layouts, allowing the customer to fully visualize potential network designs and transmit that vision to their entire project team.
Throughout our history, DataStarUSA has taken an active interest in helping our customers develop cross-connect and asset management software data base programs including NetDoc, and Drawbase. Through the use of NetDoc we provide our customers a passive database which they can use to track all physical cross connections and ports assignments. Drawbase is a complete facility asset management tool which uses floor plans and images which can be augmented and tagged with pertinent information which can be remotely viewed to manage all aspects of a facility including but not limited to IT, MEP, Personnel, Real Estate, and furniture. Incorporated into a customers work order system, these programs provide an obvious value and ROI by providing instant, up to date information and creation of associated reports.
DataStarUSA also installs hardware and software for and supports the Systimax Intelligent Infrastructure solution iPatch. The iPatch system is an active database tool which sets parameters for and actively monitors all cross connections in the cable plant. The product is web enabled and allows a central manager for an entire network across multiple locations and includes planned change process and verification and notification for unauthorized or inaccurate cross connections.
DataStarUSA performs all development of these products in-house, working closely with our customers to provide these detailed and customized platforms which aid them in planning, provide security, and provide automation of the change management process. This process ultimately aids with compliance requirements, reduces planning time and downtime, and greatly improves productivity.
